Our Jazz Practice section is a growing resource that aims to provide soloing ideas based on scales and arpeggios over major jazz progressions, such as the Cycle of Fourths and II-V-Is, in a variety of keys. I will also take a lookat comping and walking bass lines.

This exercise explores a simple II-V-I-VI7 progression in depth. The Guitar Tab is C - so your basic chords are Dm7-G7-Cmaj7-A7 - but you should definitely transpose it to other keys
The corresponding Guitar Tab file was programmed in Guitar Pro 6 but it can be read by other tab programs. However, if you want to hear the arpeggio studies in their full glory, I recommend you use Guitar Pro.

This is a nice little bebop jazz guitar lick in a Scrapple From The Apple/Honeysuckle Rose vein - but only 4 bars instead of 8. It is taken from the Essential Jazz Phrases collection in Band In A Box.
It's basically ||:Gm7/// | C7//// | FMaj7/// | FMaj7///:|| - adding the VI7 (the D7b9) is a typical embellishment of a standard II-V-I jazz lick.
Anyway, here it is - I hope you enjoy it.
