Well AdvancedGuitarPlayer.Com is nearly a month old and things seem to be developing quite nicely into a kind of online set list for everyone down at Barcelona Open Mic - not very original yet but useful nonetheless. I'll get a webcam and start making my own videos soon, I promise!! What is the aim of Advanced Guitar Player? On a personal level . . . I want to have fun, to get to know other like-minded musicians, to keep my own learning on track and to share what I know about music, in general, and this fantastic six-stringed instrument, in particular. For my own part, there's no particular plan to how the content on the site is going to develop . . . but I imagine I'll be publishing stuff related to the material I'm working on at any given moment and even more importantly, pointers to free lessons, resources and videos on the Internet. Jazz Standards and Jazz BluesI'm working on a limited number of tunes in the jazz genre – All The Things You Are, Autumn Leaves and Stella By Starlight are pretty solid 4/4 standards in different keys, My Favourite Things is good as a tune in waltz time, Blue Monk is just a sexy jazz blues and Jobim’s Girl From Ipanema gives plenty of possibilities for exploring latin styles. Blues And SoulIn my opinion, playing The Blues over a standard three chord 12-bar is the key to playing pretty much everything - I've decided to organise the categories by Key Signature and at the moment, there are tunes in G, C. I'm also starting to upload videos, lyrics and tabs for some of my favourite soul and r'n'b standards. OtherStylesWhat's more, as a result of the Barcelona Open Mic/Micro Abierto project, I'm playing a lot of acoustic blues and soul and also getting to grips with some of my favourite Steely Dan tunes, so plenty of music in that vein is likely to appear along with a good dose of Reggae and African Music - two particular passions of mine! Advanced Guitar Player CommunityWhat I'd really like to do with the site - apart from giving pointers to all the free material available for advanced guitarists on the Internet - is to create a community of guitar players throughout the world. I've set the site up using Community Builder and Registered Advanced Guitar Player Users can post to the Forum and create their own Blog - please feel free to write in English, Spanish or Catalan. Furthermore, if you've got a guitar or music-related website, you can add your URL to the Link Directory. Hope You Enjoy Advanced Guitar Player! All the best, Simon
