These lesson notes correspond to the Guitar Pro Tab, PDF and Audio files for Lesson 10 - Exploring the Intervals of the Major Pentatonic Scale from Sight Singing Major Scales - Part One of Perfect Your Pitch - Ear Training And Sight Reading For Guitar Players. * We're still in C Major so the notes we are practicing are C, E, G, A and the most recently added note is D. As I've mentioned in previous exploring intervals lessons that we're not really practising intervals in the conventional sense of 'Sing a Major 6th . . . Sing a Perfect 5th' etc but rather learning to make big leaps across the scale without having a melody to help us. Very good practice! You should also be playing these ideas on your guitar! On a guitar playing level, we're really moving into familiar territory. These notes make up the C pentatonic scale - C, D, E, G, A, C - and the A Minor pentatonic scale - A, C, D, G, A . . . the same notes starting at different roots. Practice both scales over their respective chords or familiar chord progressions. If you only play what you can sing, yiou'll both improve your ear and improve the musicality of your solos!
Guitar Ear Training Programs And LinksThe accompanying Guitar Tab Files for this Ear Training Course are available in Guitar Pro 6 format from the Advanced Guitar Player Downloads section. If you haven't got a copy of Guitar Pro, Click here to visit the Guitar Pro download page. Although they often don't provide progressive Aural Skills development for beginners, ear training software programs can be very useful. I personally use EarMaster Pro - Click here to download a Trial Version of EarMaster Essential, Pro or School.
